Description

Rack Supported Warehouses (RSWs), also known as Clad-Rack Warehouses, are innovative self-supporting structures that maximize the use of both ground space and vertical height. This system utilizes the racks or shelves themselves as the support structure for the warehouse’s walls and roof, effectively integrating the storage system into the building’s framework. Regardless of the type of racks or shelves employed—be it conventional, drive-in, live, or shuttle—these elements serve as the foundation of the warehouse.

The primary advantage of RSWs lies in their exceptional space-saving capabilities. With racks reaching nearly to the ceiling, this design greatly enhances the efficiency of space utilization. Clad Rack Warehouses are incredibly sturdy, benefiting from a dense racking structure that provides strength and stability. The upright columns of the racks effectively distribute the weight of the loads, while the design allows them to withstand external forces such as wind, heat, snow, rain, and seismic activity. These warehouses can achieve heights of up to 40 meters or more, depending on the reach of material handling equipment (MHEs) and local regulations.
